The federal by-election for the Battle River-Crowfoot constituency is today (Monday, August 18th).
Canada’s 45th General Election was held back on April 28th, so this will be the second time this year that voters in Battle River-Crowfoot will head to the polls.
The electoral boundaries for Battle River-Crowfoot include Kneehill County, Three Hills, Trochu, and Drumheller in the south up to Camrose, Tofield, Viking, and Wainwright in the north.
A full list of all of the candidates and other voter eligibility information is available on the elections.ca website. There is also details available there about the adapted ballot which Elections Canada has created for this by-election due to the higher than usual number of candidates running and the limitations of the large ballots that have been used in some prior elections. Elections Canada officials note it is similar to a special ballot and allows electors to write the name of the candidate they are voting for on it. They add, “the adapted ballot will retain the safeguards of a typical ballot.”
Votes can be cast today between 8:30am and 8:30pm.
