Town of Olds delivers $9,250 in MVP grant funding to Pregnancy Support Centre

The Town of Olds has started delivering its latest round of Mountain View Power Community Grants, with $9,250 going to the Olds and Area Pregnancy Support Centre in June.

Town officials say grants like these are only possible through Mountain View Power customers, as the community-run energy retailer reinvests its profits into local projects and programming.

Director of Community Services Guy Lapointe says applicants are reviewed by the Mountain View Power Grant Committee and winners will be announced after a “rigorous” screening process.

“We have to have a discussion, there’s only so many dollars to go around and we certainly want to make sure that we’re treating the community fairly and evenly, and that we’re seeing the biggest community impact,” he says.

The Pregnancy Support Centre’s $9,000 boost will be used to enhance their Family Growth and Learning Space to help clients participate in courses like prenatal workshops or support for bereaved parents.

Council approved a total of $43,100 in grants across six community organizations including the Community Learning Campus, which received $8,000, Imagine Gymnastics, which received $10,000, and the Men’s Shed of Olds, which received $6,350.

Community groups can apply for the next batch of grants in Fall 2025.
