Mountain View County will provide N95 masks for residents in anticipation of smoky summer

Mountain View County will provide free N95 masks for residents during wildfire season due to the prevalence of smoke in the region.

As of 6:00 a.m. on June 24th, Environment Canada’s observed conditions for the areas of Airdrie and Red Deer sit between a two and three – posing what officials call a “moderate” health risk for residents.

Looking ahead, the forecast looks largely the same, with air quality expected to sit around the three mark for the next 24 hours.

As a result, the county, in partnership with the Red Cross, will provide N95 masks, for free, available to be picked up at the County Office between Olds and Didsbury.

“Thanks to a generous donation from the Canadian Red Cross, Mountain View County now has free N95 masks available to help protect residents from wildfire smoke and other air quality issues,” the county shared on social media.

Additionally, in anticipation of the day’s festivities, a limited supply will be available at the county’s upcoming Pancake Breakfast on June 27th at Bergen Community Hall.
