Mountain View County’s Fire Restriction in place “until further notice”

A Fire Restriction has been implemented for the entirety of Mountain View County until further notice.

This comes due to current and forecasted conditions in the region making it unsafe for recreational burning.

Starting on May 30th, and until further notice, all outdoor fires must be extinguished, and the lighting of any outdoor fire is prohibited, including fireworks, recreational fires not contained in acceptable fire pits, and fires that have previously received a fire permit.

Under the restriction, the use of acceptable burning barrels, fire pits, and outdoor fireplaces are still allowed, along with barbecues, household fireplaces, and AER flaring.

Additionally, all current fire and fireworks permits are cancelled, and county officials maintain that no new fire permits will be issued until the fire restriction is lifted.
