Squeeze in some time to hear the pipe bands at the Carstairs Heritage Festival and Parade of Kilts

The Scottish heritage of the Town of Carstairs will be on full display this weekend.

According to volunteer Rose Warden with the 7th annual Carstairs Heritage Festival and Parade of Kilts, it will feature the Highland Games at the Ball Diamond starting at 10:30am on Saturday, May 30th. She says “it is incredible to see these athletes where they pick up the end of they call it a caber, but it is like the end of a giant timber or log and they try to lift and throw it high. It is really incredible to see the intense feat of strength in what they are doing.”

The closing ceremonies will be at Memorial Park at 4:30 Saturday afternoon. Warden says “we have a finale with all 130 musicians coming together, so imagine eight bagpipe bands playing all together in the field. You can really feel the vibrations in your heart as they are playing all together.”
