Step by step: Fundraising run on June 13 supports local food security initiatives

Essentials For Our Community was one of the many local organizations that had a booth set up over the weekend at the 2026 Didsbury Trade Show.

President Sheree Andrews points out that their Surrounded In Support fundraising run is coming up on June 13th. Pledge forms and more details are available now on their Facebook page. She says “so on that day we’ve got a market, we’ve got things for families, we’ve got the run itself, a children’s run where every child that participates gets a Dairy Queen meal. So there is just lots going on, a lot of activities. You can come cheer on the runners or walk and run yourself.”

According to Andrews, they’ve seen a huge increase in people needing support so far in 2026. She says “we are serving over 100 people a week now for food and grocery items, and we are seeing a lot of needs in the community with housing and all that stuff. So we are trying to help meet people where they are are at, take care of the food security and go from there.”

Essentials For Our Community Didsbury is set up on Thursdays from 11 until 5pm at the Didsbury Lutheran Church.
