Bowling for dollars: Special Olympics Olds & District delivers dynamite pitch at Rotary Dragons Den

Local groups and organizations tapped into their creative side to try and impress the Rotary Dragons last week.

Randy Smith with the Rotary Club of Olds served as the Master of Ceremonies for their third annual Dragons Den on Thursday, March 11th. He adds, they filled up the Olds Air Cadet hall with about 60-70 people on hand to watch the six presentations. Smith says “it was great. They had snacks, we had drinks. Everybody stayed until the end. I think everybody was on the edge of their seat to listen to the next presenter and I think it was a great evening for all the groups.”

According to Smith, the Special Olympics Olds & District bowling team received a $500 bonus for having the best/most impactful Dragons Den pitch. They also earned $2,500.

The Olds Fire Cadets ($2,500), FCSS for the Town of Olds ($2,500), the Ecole Olds High School band trip ($1,500), Olds Amateur Football ($2,000), and the U15 Girls Provincial Hockey Tournament ($1,500) also made successful pitches for funding support from the Rotary Club.
