Alberta Beef Producers are holding a webinar next week in the wake of a case of bovine tuberculosis late last year that touched about 140 herds in Alberta and Saskatchewan.
Karen Schmid, Beef Production and Extension Lead at ABP, says it will be at 7pm on Monday, November 17th. Schmid says “so in this webinar we are going to update producers with information about the disease, why it matters, investigation procedures, and some commonly asked questions to help producers better understand what is going on out in the countryside. So it is free and open to all producers, they can register through the ABP website or find the link on our social media.”
Meanwhile, this Saturday, November 15th is the deadline for delegate nominations for Alberta Beef Producers and forms are available on the ABP Daily website. Schmid says “this is really one of the best ways for producers to get involved in shaping the direction of Alberta Beef Producers and the beef industry. The nomination period opened in September but it is closing really soon. So if you know of anyone who might be interested and want to nominate them or if you want to nominate yourself.”
All cattle producers in the province who have paid a mandatory check-off levy in the past 24 months are eligible to vote and/or run as an Alberta Beef Producers delegate. Schmid points out that the province has five zones and each one elects seven delegates.
