Colts make it seven victories in a row thanks to all-winning weekend

A lengthy winning streak has the Mountain View Colts galloping up the standings in the Heritage Junior Hockey League.

With 16 points (8-2-0), they are second in the North Division and second overall in the HJHL behind only the Sylvan Lake Wranglers (8-2-1). The Wranglers have 17 points.

Blake Stoddard (2006) from Penhold had a pair of goals and Nicholas Smith (2004) from Calgary made 32 saves on Friday, October 17th as Mountain View held on to ground the Flyers by the score of 4-3 in High River.

A very busy but all-winning weekend also saw the Colts top Airdrie 5-1 at the Didsbury Memorial Complex on Saturday (October 18th) and they outlasted the Rams 4-3 in a shootout in Rocky Mountain House on Sunday (October 19th). Colin McDougall (2007) from Olds made 27 saves against the Thunder, while Reed Toussaint (2007) from Rimbey had a pair of assists and Spencer McMillin (2005) from Hanna netted what stood up to be the game winning goal at 12:48 of the first period. The victory over the Rams saw Smith stop 27 of 30 shots during the game and he denied all six of Rocky’s shooters in the breakaways. Stoddard had two assists and was the lone player to score in the shootout. Joseph Krukowski (2005) from Crossfield lit the lamp with his team leading 8th goal of the season on Sunday. Krukowski is tied for third in the league in goals and he has scored at least one in four consecutive games.

The Blue and White will try and make it 8 wins in a row when they visit Sylvan Lake on Friday (October 24th). Mountain View will then take on the Rams again in Rocky (3-6-1) on Saturday (October 25th. Their next home game is on Halloween Night (October 31st) at 8:15pm versus Sylvan Lake.

The next Colts broadcast on 96.5 The Ranch is coming up on November 1st at 8pm when Mountain View travels to Red Deer (7-1-1).
