Canadians are being encouraged to “huddle up” and get behind the women’s team as it hopes to secure our country’s first ever championship at a Rugby World Cup.
A battle of undefeated teams at the tournament will see second ranked Canada clash with the top-ranked hosts from England in London for the world title on Saturday (September 27th).
The national women’s rugby roster for the Canadians includes Edmonton’s Fancy Bermudez and Sara Cline, Calgary’s Gillian Boag, Red Deer’s Paige Farries, Courtney Holtkamp from Rimbey, DaLeaka Menin from Vulcan, and Krissy Scurfield from Canmore. See the full roster and all of the home towns here.
The Canadians advanced to the Final by lowering their collective shoulders to smash the reigning champs from New Zealand by the largest margin of victory ever recorded against them in Rugby World Cup last Friday. Canada topped the Black Ferns 34 to 19.
This is only the second appearance for Canada’s women in a WRC Final. England got past the Canadians 21-9 in France in the 2014 Cup Final.
