2025 Small Business Awards: Four nominees part of crowded field for People’s Choice

The local business community gathered on the Olds College campus on Wednesday, September 24th for a popular annual Olds & District Chamber of Commerce event.

Each year the Business, Beer, and Blue Jeans evening is where the nominees are revealed for the Olds Chamber’s Small Business Awards.

Juliette’s Boutique and Rona Olds were announced as the nominees for Best New Business during the festivities at the Werklund Agriculture and Technology Centre.

Garth Dagg with Rona Olds notes they are very happy as well as proud to be nominated, and a bunch of their staff came out for Business, Beer, and Blue Jeans. Dagg says “yeah, it was a year ago we had the grand opening and things have been steadily growing. Our staff is working hard to keep people happy and we’re happy to be part of the community.”

The Business of the Year nominees are Quesada Burritos & Tacos, Boomer Movers, and Jensen’s Men’s Wear.

Olds Chamber President Doug Rieberger points out that they had not quite a record number of nominations, but it was a lot more than they have had in the previous three or four years. Rieberger says “well to start with it’s just recognition for a lot of the good work and that, that they do within the community. For the newer businesses it is a tremendous way to get their name out there and show that they are doing a good job.”

The President’s Award nominees are Doug Rieberger Ultimate Safety, and Robbin Corsiatto Boomer Movers.

Boomer Movers is also up for the People’s Choice award along with Olds Community Pharmacy, Bean Brokers, and Sim’s Furniture.

The Youth Employee of the Year nominees are McKenna Bauer Advanced Telecom/TELUS and Dane Drent Boomer Movers.

The Olds Bottle Depot is the lone nominee for the Innovation Award.

The nominees for the Community Spirit award are the Olds Elks and the Mountain View Emergency Shelter Society.

The 2025 Small Business Awards Gala is set for October 23rd at the Olds Royal Canadian Legion and tickets and more details about Small Business Week can be found online at OldsAlberta.com.
