An Alberta Emergency Alert was issued this morning (September 12th) when the Town of Crossfield updated its boil water advisory.
It stated that “results from water quality testing by Alberta Health Services are still pending, and the Town anticipates we will be able to provide further direction on the advisory by Saturday evening.”
Within the Crossfield town boundaries, all residents and businesses are being advised to bring their water to “a rolling boil for at least one minute prior to using it for domestic purposes, including but not limited to drinking, making infant formula and juices, brushing teeth, washing raw foods and making ice.” The advisory will remain in place until further notice. Through its website and social media channels, the Town of Crossfield has stated that an update will be posted today at 4pm.
The Town is also letting residents know that a potable water unit is available at the Community Centre located at 900 Mountain Avenue in Crossfield and that it will be refilled as necessary and be there until the Boil Water Advisory is lifted. Thanks are also being extended to the City of Airdrie for assistance during this time to help ensure Crossfield residents have access to safe water. Visit crossfieldalberta.com for updates.
The service disruption initially occurred on Thursday and was the result of a water main break which happened during a repair near the Town of Crossfield’s Public Works Shop on Laut Avenue. The Town revealed that “once the excavation began, an issue with the original installation of the line, dating back several decades, caused the connection to separate.”
