Battle River-Crowfoot by-election set for August 18th by Prime Minister Carney

Prime Minister Mark Carney announced on Monday, June 30th that there will be a by-election in the federal riding of Battle River-Crowfoot this summer.

It is set for August 18th and it is the constituency where Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is expected to run to try and regain a seat in Parliament.

Former Conservative MP Damien Kurek won the Battle River-Crowfoot riding in April’s federal election with over eighty percent of the votes but resigned in June to give the opportunity to compete in a by-election to Poilievre instead.

The Conservative Leader had fallen in the Ontario riding of Carleton after nearly two decades. Liberal Bruce Fanjoy defeated Poilievre by just over five percent in April.

The nomination process for candidates in Battle River-Crowfoot will close on July 28th and according to Elections Canada a complete list of confirmed candidates will be available on July 30th.

Advanced polling will run from August 8th through the 11th. Visit elections.ca for details on voter eligibility and more.

The electoral boundaries for Battle River-Crowfoot include Kneehill County, Three Hills, Trochu, and Drumheller in the south up to Camrose, Tofield, Viking, and Wainwright in the north.
