Mavs leading tight Central Division race ahead of weekend RMLL road trip

The Mountain View Mavericks are clinging to first place in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League’s Central Division.

The Mavs hold a one point edge on the second place Rockyview Silvertips (10-5-0). Rockyview has played one more game than Mountain View so far this season. The Calgary Chill (9-5-1) are in the mix as well. Calgary is third but only two points back of the Mavs.

The Silvertips pulled away from the Mavericks in the third period of their clash last Saturday in Crossfield. The game was tied at 5-all after 2 periods, but Rockyview outscored Mountain View 6-3 from there on en route to an 11-8 win. Everett Muratori had a hat trick in a losing cause for the Mavs.

Mountain View would get back in the win column on Sunday in Innisfail by defeating the Red Deer Rampage 10-5. In the win, Jace Victoria chimed in with 5 assists, while Jace Dolinski had 2 goals and 2 assists.

The Mavs have six games left in the regular season. They carry a record of 10-3-1 into this weekend’s road trip. Mountain View meets the Marauders in Okotoks on Friday night before traveling to Edmonton on Saturday afternoon for more Tier 2 Junior B lacrosse action versus the Warriors.

The next home game for the Mavs at the Innisfail Arena isn’t until July 4th against the Red Deer Rampage.
