Conservative candidate William Stevenson declared winner in Yellowhead

A first time Conservative candidate is the MP elect for Yellowhead riding.

As of 10:30pm, William Stevenson was supported by more than 75 per cent of the voters in the new Yellowhead constituency. The riding includes such places as Carstairs, Cremona, Sundre, Caroline, Rocky Mountain House, and Clearwater County.

Stevenson will be a first time Member of Parliament. He says “I am grateful for the support of the constituents and thank everyone for their support. I look forward to representing you in Ottawa.” Stevenson adds, he is a fourth-generation Albertan, born, and raised with deep roots in the Cremona, Carstairs, and Crossfield area.

At that stage of the night 160 of the 252 polls in Yellowhead were reporting. Stevenson was followed by Michael Fark of the Liberals with about 19 per cent, Avni Soma of the NDP with approximately 3 per cent, Vicky Bayford of the PPC with just about 1.5 per cent, and Dale Health of the Christian Heritage Party with under 1 per cent of the votes.

The Yellowhead riding covers over 800 kilometers and it also includes the key provincial tourist locations of Banff and Jasper.
