Four winners for three awards as Town of Olds holds annual volunteer appreciation night

The Town of Olds celebrated the efforts of the many community members who pitch in to help out with local service organizations, non-profit groups, and charities, and more on last week.

The Town’s annual Volunteer Appreciation Night was held at the Olds College Alumni Centre on Friday evening.

Receiving special honours handed out by Mayor Judy Dahl during the ceremony were four volunteers.

Joy Cavin and Lisa Nicholson were the co-winners of the Citizen Volunteer of the Year. Cavin is involved with many organizations including Holy Trinity School, the Air Cadets, and the MS Society, while Nicholson continues her efforts for the Hope For MVC Kids Society.

The Senior Citizen Volunteer of the Year is Joanne Snell – Head of the Catholic Women’s League among other things.

And the Youth Citizen Volunteer of the Year for the Town of Olds is Jack Weisbrodt with the YES Program, OHS Leadership Committee, and Minor Football.

National Volunteer week is underway as from April 27th through May3rd it is recognizing that like a wave, volunteering is movement building.
