Another great edition of the Water Valley Terry Fox Run has crossed the finish line.
Organizer Mary Thomson notes that on Sunday, September 20th they had about 62 people participate including their volunteers. Thomson says “every year we have some pictures taken and we put them on poster boards and we had them on display and there was people that came and said oh look, you know, my kids were really small when we did it and now they are doing it. So, it is a real family tradition out in Water Valley to come back and see everybody and do the walk in memory of all of our family and friends who’ve been touched by cancer.”
Thomson believes the Water Valley Run will be over $13,000 raised for this year – and with more donations still coming in online, she hopes by the time it is all added up that total will be closer to $15,000. She thanks everyone in the community for their support and for helping them contribute to the Terry Fox Foundation.
Meanwhile, organizers of the Olds and Area Terry Fox Run took to social media to thank all of the volunteers and Mountain View Strength and Conditioning for supporting this year’s event.
Participants had beautiful weather as they continued Terry’s legacy of hope and his Foundation’s efforts to end cancer through research. The Olds and Area Terry Fox Run was able to raise over $7,000 this year and organizers expect to see that number rise in the coming days as even more donations roll in.
