The Didsbury Ag Society hosted the penultimate Foothills Cowboy Association rodeo of the regular season over the weekend at the exhibition grounds.
When the dust settled, a number of local competitors were among the winners in the major events including Sundre’s Koaltyn Ogilvie in bull riding (69 points), Sundre’s Bubba Hays in steer wrestling (5.6 seconds), Madison Levangie from Red Deer County in ladies breakaway roping (3.86 seconds), and Bev Welsh from Carstairs in ladies barrel racing (16.464 seconds).
The other major event winners included Saskatchewan’s Wyatt Friesen in saddlebronc (72 points), Austin Young from Elk Point in tie-down roping (11.6 seconds), along with the tandem of Brady Van Gelderen from Black Diamond and Dallas Bull from High River in team roping (6.8 seconds).
Rounding out the list of first place finishers were Wyatt Friesen in novice horse riding (65 points), Jaxon Victoria from Carstairs in junior bull riding (71.8 points), Tinley Harvie from Didsbury in junior breakaway roping (4.28 seconds), Taydee May Bezjack from Bowden in junior barrel racing (16.670 seconds), and Katie Sharp from Foothills County in pee wee barrel racing (18.068 seconds). There was a tie for top spot in junior steer riding with Youngstown’s Brady Bignell and Dylan Thiessen from Linden both recording 74 point efforts.
The FCA cowboys and cowgirls now move on to the Cochrane Lions Rodeo for action from September 5th through the 7th. It is the last tour stop of 2026. The champions for this year will then be crowned on September 25th and 26th at the FCA Finals which will be held at Olds College’s Brawn Arena.
