Propping up air ambulance service: MV County’s fundraising being celebrated with STARS visit on June 25

A unique helicopter visit should lift everyone’s spirits in Mountain View County ahead of Canada Day.

Reeve Angela Aalbers points out that in 2026 the County will be surpassing $500,000 of contributions towards STARS Air Ambulance and so they have a big summer event planned. She says “so we are very excited. June 25th is our Canada Day breakfast at the County office and we are going to celebrate with a special helicopter logo unveiling which is part of the event.” The logo will recognize Mountain View County’s funding milestone with STARS.

Reeve Aalbers notes that a delegation from STARS was on hand for last week’s County council meeting. She says “STARS always gives us wonderful information about how many people they serve and how much great work they do within Mountain View County including for the Town of Sundre, Olds, Didsbury, Carstairs and of course the village of Cremona. We are always thrilled to hear all the great feedback that we get.

The County had been moving the venue for the annual Canada Day breakfast around to bring it to different communities each year, but for 2026 it will be at the County office in order to accommodate the arrival of the STARS helicopter. Last year it was held at the Bergen Community Hall.
