Students in Chinook’s Edge School Division are once again saying “Let’s Chalk About It” during Canadian Mental Health Week.
Raelynn Notley, Youth Empowerment and Support (YES!) Program Coordinator, points out that positive mental health messages and artwork will be drawn this week by students in communities all across Chinook’s Edge School Division between May 4-10.
Notley notes that because they have been doing it for many years now, students really look forward to it. She says “I hear kids when we go Uptowne and we’re seeing them do the artwork, they take pictures of it so that they can show their families or they’ll even say that they are going to bring their parents or their grandparents down to show them what they have done. I think it is a just a really meaningful experience for them to be able to brighten up the sidewalks.”
Notley adds, Deer Meadow School students in Grades 5 to 8 will be out doing chalk art on Friday, May 8th at 1pm in Uptowne Olds.
Students from Holy Trinity Catholic School in Olds will also be participating in “Let’s Chalk About It” that day by covering areas at the Olds Fire Department and the Olds RCMP Detachment.
