Spring adjustments were given the go ahead by Olds council last week to both the Operating and Capital Budgets for 2026.
Mayor Dan Daley points out that the Capital Budget increased by $1.18 million to a total of just over $4 million and the Town is going to continue on with its infrastructure inspection and repair. He says “of course there has been a lot of attention being set to the north 57th Avenue underground services and that is going to be one of the major projects this summer that needs to go forward. That piece of underground utility is in very dire straits, so it does need to be rectified.”
Mayor Daley adds, two more summer students have been hired by the Town of Olds for 2026 to assist with the services levels for parks and recreation. He says “our service level for parks and recreation, we have minimalized the naturalization for this year and the summer students will help us trying to cover all of that green space with mowing and so forth. So, just trying to meet the needs of what we’ve heard from the citizens.”
The 2026 Operating Budget is about $38.5 million after it was adjusted up by an additional $1.13 million for revenues including building permits and provincial grants. Changes to expenses were for such items as salaries, regional programs, as well as economic development.
