The Olds Grizzlys have officially been eliminated from the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s postseason picture.
With 5 games remaining in the 2025-2026 regular season, the Black & Gold (16-30-2-2) are 13 points back of the Calgary Canucks (23-23-2-1). The Canucks have now clinched the South Division’s fourth and final postseason birth.
Olds lost twice at the Sportsplex over the weekend by scores of 3-1 to the league leading Whitecourt Wolverines (35-12-1-2) and 6-1 to the Lloydminster Bobcats (30-14-4-3). Ryder Riedel (2007) from Didsbury had the lone goal for Olds on Friday and he had an assist on Saturday to extend his current point streak up to 9 games (6 goals, 9 assists). He has 15 goals and 39 points overall in 34 games as a rookie in the AJHL. Jordin St. Louis (2009) from Airdrie had an assist on Friday and lit the lamp on Saturday giving him 20 points in his last 14 games (6 goals, 14 assists). He has points in 13 of his last 14 games and leads Olds with 18 goals and 42 points in 45 games during his freshman campaign in the league.
The Grizzlys final home game of the season is on Tuesday, March 3rd at 7pm versus Canmore. The Eagles (30-18-2-1) are closing in on clinching first place in the South Division. They have a 7 point lead on the second place Drumheller Dragons (25-19-2-4).
The regular season will wrap up for the Grizzlys with a four game road trip that stretches from March 6-14 and includes stops in Bonnyville, Lloydminster, Canmore, and Calgary.
