A Red Deer County man has been charged following a fatal collision this week in Red Deer.
The charges the 33-year-old man faces include impaired driving causing death, two counts of theft of a motor vehicle, breaking and entering, and possession of stolen property over $5,000. He was remanded into custody with a court date in Red Deer set for next week (August 20th).
Mounties were called to the scene of a serious collision which involved a stolen vehicle on Tuesday afternoon near 40th Avenue and 22nd Street. Police say the driver of the stolen vehicle fled the scene by stealing a vehicle from a bystander who had stopped to try and assist in the collision. RCMP point out that the suspect was then involved in another collision, fled on foot and was subsequently arrested.
The collision claimed the life of a 46-year-old Red Deer woman and RCMP are passing along condolences to her family and friends.
