Three Hills RCMP urge water safety

As people head to the water to beat the summer heat, Three Hills RCMP are reminding everyone to keep safety in mind when visiting lakes and rivers.

RCMP say risk goes up if precautions aren’t taken. Whether you are boating, kayaking, swimming, or just relaxing near the shoreline, safety needs to be top of mind.

Key reminders include staying sober while on the water, checking weather conditions before heading out, and always letting someone know your plans.

RCMP also stress the importance of having proper gear, including lifejackets, emergency supplies, and communication devices.

Officers say knowing your swimming limits, wearing a lifejacket, and avoiding open water in poor weather conditions can help prevent tragedies.

The RCMP urge everyone to enjoy Alberta’s waterways responsibly and make safety part of every summer outing.
