The Rotary Athletic Park of Olds will be showcased this weekend as the provincial U-17 B girls softball tournament comes to Town from July 25-27.
Duane Lowe, President of the Olds Minor Softball and Head Coach of the U-17 B Pistols Softball Team, says the Pistols have a strong group that won the U-15 B Alberta title last year in St. Albert and now this year they have moved up to try and win at the U-17 level. He says “it’s great. We’ve got a great little team and wonderful facilities in the Town of Olds and we’re pretty excited to be the host team. There will just be six this year but from around the province from Edmonton to Okotoks and ourselves.”
The Olds Pistols first game of six team provincial tourney is coming up on Friday at 11am at the Rotary Park of Olds. He says there is free admission and there will be food trucks on site.
The opening ceremonies for the U-17 B girls softball provincials will be Friday at 1:30. The championship game will be played on Sunday.
