Chance Flad claims first career WPCA victory at abbreviated Wainwright Stampede

Inclement weather over the weekend shortened the World Professional Chuckwagon Association action at the Wainwright Stampede to just a two-day aggregate competition instead of three.

Races were completed on Friday and Saturday, but the track conditions did not improve enough by Sunday, June 22nd and they were classified as “unsafe”.

As a result, Chance Flad from Arrowwood was declared the winner with a two-day aggregate total time of 2:11.16. His nightly times were fourth on Friday and second on Saturday in the Hall & Company Professional Chartered Accountants wagon. It is the first career WPCA victory for the 33-year-old Flad.

Kris Molle from Chauvin was a close second in the aggregate at 2:11.64 in the Benoit Oilfield Construction (1997) Ltd. outfit, and Rae Croteau Jr. was third at 2:12.35 in the Scorpion Oilfield Services Ltd. wagon.

Turning to the World Standings were Rae Croteau Jr is first with 573.3 points, Jason Glass from High River is seconds with 559, and Kurt Bensmiller from Dewberry is third with 546.5.

Up next is the Ponoka Stampede. The six day event starts on Thursday and it will feature 36 drivers with 9 heats each night. Listen to it live on 96.5 The Ranch. The Ranch is the radio broadcast home of the 2025 WPCA Pro Tour.
