CFR 49 – Unofficial Night 2 Results

Night 2 of the 2023 Canadian Finals Rodeo is in the books.

Taylor Manning from Yellowhead County kicked of Thursday’s action with the fastest time in barrel racing. She finished the circuit at Westerner Park in Red Deer in 13.86 seconds.

In bareback, it was Clint Laye from Cadogan who earned the day money with an 85.5 point ride aboard Big Stone Rodeo’s Mayhem.

First and second place money for Thursday was split in steer wrestling between Scott Guethner from Provost, and Chance Butterfield from Ponoka. They both got it done in 3.9 seconds.

3.9 seconds was also the best time in team roping – that is how quick Dawson and Dillon Graham from Wainwright were on Night 2.

After a rare time at the CFR where he got bucked off on Wednesday, Zeke Thurston from Big Valley was back with a vengance on Thursday. He claimed day money thanks to an 87.5 on Calgary Stampede’s Carma.

Shane Smith from Wimborne had the fastest hands in tie down roping as he completed the task in 8.8 seconds.

Sundre’s Wyatt Gleeson stayed on Outlaw Buckers’ Afraid To Nod for the full 8 seconds to secure the highest score of the night in bull riding with an 86.75.

In the novice events, Austin Broderson from Turin was first in novice bareback with a score of 74.75, Dylan Young from Sturgeon County led the way in novice saddle bronc with a 79.75, and in steer riding the best of the bunch was Hayden Mulvey from Brooks with a score of 78.25 points.

Night 3 of the Canadian Finals Rodeo gets underway this evening at 6 o’clock. For tickets and more details on all that is planned for CFR week at Westerner Park go online to CFRRedDeer.ca.
