Events are planned across the province this Sunday in order to recognize Alberta Day.
On September 1st of 1905, the Alberta Act came into effect and formally established the province of Alberta.
Nathan Cooper, the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta (and the MLA for Olds-Didsbury-Three Hills, points out that it is a great opportunity to celebrate all things Alberta. He says “the entrepreneurial spirit, the way that we treat our friends and neighbours, the way that we’re an inclusive province. It is just such a joy to be able to live here, to reside, here and to celebrate the things that make Alberta one of the greatest places to live, work, and raise a family.”
Cooper adds, the Alberta Day celebration is something that a lot of folks look forward to.
The main provincially funded festivities for Alberta Day on Sunday, September 1st will get underway at 11am on the legislature grounds in Edmonton and at Heritage Park in Calgary.
Alberta’s government is also supporting 40 other municipalities to host Alberta Day celebrations between August 30th and September 2nd. Check the social media channels of your local municipality for more details.
