Mountain View Mavericks Heading To Airdrie For Alberta Lacrosse Association Provincials

The Mountain View Mavericks are battling it out this weekend for the Larry Bishop Memorial Cup.

The Junior B Tier 1 Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League Championship and the Alberta Lacrosse Association’s provincial title is on the line at Genesis Place in Airdrie.

The opening ceremonies are tonight and five teams will be contending for provincial dominance from today (August 2nd) through Monday, August 5th. The five teams include the RMLL’s four division winners and since Rockyview from the Central Division is hosting the event, the Mountain View Mavericks also get in.

Mountain View’s first game at provincials in Airdrie is this evening at 8:15pm versus the Fort Saskatchewan Rebels.

Saturday’s agenda will see the Mavs face the Rockyview Silvertips at noon and the Calgary Shamrocks at 8pm.

On Sunday, Mountain View will finish the round robin portion of the tournament against the Winnipeg Blizzard at 5pm.

The gold medal game between the first and second place teams from the tourney is set for 1pm on Monday.

The RMLL playoffs saw the Mountain View Mavericks come up just short in the Central Division Final as they lost a heartbreaker 10-9 on a late third period goal in Innisfail on July 27th to the Rockyview Silvertips. The Silvertips took the series best of three playoff series two games to none.
