Bear Valley Rescue Holds Successful Fundraiser Through Alberta Crowdfunding Platform

A recent fundraiser through the Alberta Crowdfunding Platform has helped Bear Valley Rescue surpass its goal.
President Kathy Bartley says they were trying to raise $10,000 dollars to cover the their veterinarian costs. In the end, donations of $9,200 dollars and the Alberta government matching 50 per cent of that has allowed them to bring in a total of $13,800 dollars.
According to Bartley, they have over 150 horses that they care for, plus they have approximately another 50 or 60 out on foster. She says “our hay is our major expense and of course it is coming up to hay season. We’re lucky we got some donated hay and we have some really good deals on hay that we’ve got coming down from the Edmonton area. It’s better than last year, but it is always our major expense. People can donate through our website, we have a couple of links there.”
To find out more visit the Bear Valley Rescue Facebook page or the website BearValleyAB.org. Bartley says “we are mainly a horse rescue. We take in unwanted, neglected horses. A lot of owners surrenders for people that are, unfortunately, aging or selling their farm and we provide a forever home for the horses and adopt out the ones that our adoptable.”
It is located at 31123 Range Road 60 in Sundre and the Bear Valley Rescue Open House will take place there on Saturday, August 24th from 10am until 3pm.
