Chuckwagon Driver Rob Nordick From Ardrossan Wins In Sedgewick

The Alberta Professional Chuckwagon and Chariot Association celebrated the Canada Day long weekend with three days of racing in the Town of Sedgewick.

It featured 5 heats and 15 chuckwagons. Rob Nordick from Ardrossan captured the buckle in the chuckwagons. He improved his time each day. On Saturday, Nordick was third with a 58.13. Sunday he was second with a 57.40, and on Canada Day he rocketed around the track with the fastest time of the weekend a 56.57. Nordick’s total first place running time for the three days of wagon racing was 172.10 seconds which allowed him to get past second place finisher Allan Bengston from Bluffton’s total of 173.38.

The winner in the chariots was Darrren Twercdochlibs outfit from Viking. Brett Dubuc from Fort Saskatchewan drove for Darren all weekend and his total first place running time for the three days of cart racing was 169.57 seconds. Adam Waldner from Daysland was the runner-up with a total time of 171.04. There were 8 heats and 22 chariots in Sedgewick.

Coming up this week, the APCCA will be coming to the Cloverlodge Stampede Grounds in the Town of Viking from July 5th through the 7th for more high speed action.

Still to come in this month will be five days of APCCA excitement in Red Deer at Westerner Days from July 17th-21st.
