After exceeding all attendance expectations in 2025, the Taste of Olds is back again to offer a delicious opportunity to experience local food and drink options.
Jennifer Hainsworth teaches the second year project management course in the business program at Olds College and she has 20 of her students that are responsible for the 2026 edition of the event. Hainsworth says “so we have about 20 vendors this year for Taste of Olds and we have everything from local restaurants to bakeries, breweries that are in there as well. So a good variety of different food and beverage options within that mix.”
When it comes to marking the students performance as part of it, Hainsworth notes there are some assignments and check points that they go through along the way to make sure things haven’t been missed and they have talked about those items as they go. She says “at the end of the project, they actually meet with me individually and they actually put forward what they believe they earned as a grade and bring forward the rationale and the support in terms of the justification for that grade. So it also teaches some business skills I find there in terms of being aware of what you are doing, being able to support your decisions and some negotiation process – which we all know is a big part of business as well.”
The Taste of Olds is slated for Thursday, April 16th from 5 until 9pm at the Olds College Alumni Centre. There is free parking, free entry, and then it is a cash only event where guests can purchase Tasting Tickets from the vendors.
