Edmonton Oilers Advance To 2023-2024 Stanley Cup Final

The Edmonton Oilers will face off against the Florida Panthers in this year’s Stanley Cup Final.

The Panthers punched their ticket to the SCF by beating the New York Rangers 2-1 at home in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Final on Saturday, June 1st. Florida takes the best of seven series four games to two.

On Sunday (June 2nd), the Oilers defeated the Dallas Stars by a similar 2-1 count at Rogers Place to win Game 6 of the Western Conference Final. Edmonton eliminates the Stars and captures the series four games to two.

The last time Edmonton played for the Stanley Cup was in 2005-2006. However, the Carolina Hurricanes outlasted the Oilers and secured a four games to three series victory.

The Oilers have won the Stanley Cup a total of five times in their franchise history with the most recent triumph coming in the 1989-1990 season. Edmonton also won National Hockey League championships in the 1983-1984, 1984-1985, 1986-1987, and 1987-1988 seasons.

The Montreal Canadiens were the last Canadian team to reach the SCF. During the 2020-2021 COVID 19 pandemic season, the Habs lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning four games to one.

The Canadiens are the last Canadian team to win the Stanley Cup. In 1992-1993, Montreal topped Wayne Gretzky’s Los Angeles Kings four games to one.
