A 16-year-old forward from Airdrie has once again caught the eye of Alberta Junior Hockey League officials.
Jordin St. Louis (2009) from the Olds Grizzlys is the Inter Pipeline Rookie of the Week after notching a goal and a pair of assists in a 7-4 win over the Thunder in Drayton Valley on January 30th. It was the lone game for Olds in the January 26th to February 1st time frame. He was also Rookie of the Week for January 19th to the 25th.
St. Louis extended his current point streak up to seven games by picking up a goal and an assist in a 8-2 loss to the Canmore Eagles (24-16-1-0) in Banff on Tuesday, February 3rd. He has 3 goals and 9 assists for a total of 12 points during the hot streak. St. Louis has chipped in with at least 2 points in each of his last four games.
St. Louis is second in the league in rookie scoring with 34 points in 38 games. He trails only Bonnyville Pontiacs forward Gavin Harrison (2009) from Cold Lake who leads the way with 37 points in 34 games.
St. Louis – who won’t turn 17 until April 14th – leads the Grizzlys in goals with 15 and is second in points behind only forward Sean Richards (2006) from Vancouver, B.C. Richards has 37 points in 43 games.
The Grizzlys (12-27-2-2) will finally reach the finish line of their longest road trip of the season when they go back to Drayton Valley (11-23-3-2) on Sunday, February 8th. Olds will then skate on home ice for the first time in live game action in more than a month when the Pontiacs (20-18-2-0) visit the Sportsplex on Friday, February 13th.
