As temperatures dip during the winter months, the generosity of community members helps keep everybody warm.
The Community Lending Shelf is back open in Olds this week following a break for the holidays and the Coats For Everyone program offers free winter wear for people of all ages.
According to Board Member Melissa Braun, they have seen a huge need for this program and it has a life of its own as it grows and grows every year. She says “we get lots of donations in and we have a lot of patrons from the community that come in looking for the next size up in clothing for their children, men headed back to work in the cold weather needing something warmer for work, ladies heading back into the workforce looking for clothing for that, and just plenty of people needing something to stay warm in this cold weather.”
Donation bins are available to drop off items to the Coats For Everyone program at the Community Lending Shelf location at the ‘old’ fire hall location on 50th Street. Braun says “we are always looking for warm socks, we are always looking for warm gloves and mittens and toques, as well as men’s, women’s, and children’s outerwear.”
Regular hours for customers are ten until noon on Mondays, noon until 2pm on Wednesdays, and 1 until 4 on Fridays.
