Sweep in the new year at the 78th annual Innisfail Farmer & Farmerettes Bonspiel

The Innisfail Farmers & Farmerettes Bonspiel will run from January 19th through the 24th at the Innisfail Curling Club.

Committee member Todd Marshall highlights the fact that it will be similar to last year with a ladies division and then an ‘open side’ for men and mixed teams. Marshall says “so normally we require like two farmers to be on each team and then they can enter with another person. The farmers teams enter as three and then we draw them with a local business person. Always an exciting time to get the farming population and the local business people together for a week of fun and fellowship, and hopefully some good curling shots.”

Marshall notes that a couple members on the committee are in charge of the prizes and they do an excellent job of going out to the local businesses that support them. He says “we try to go back to them to buy all of our prizes, so always an excellent prize table at the banquet. Yeah, sponsorship has been really, really good again this year. We kind of were a little concerned with some of the stuff going on in the ag industry, some of the extra costs and stuff associated with tariffs and everything else but, yeah, the sponsors have stepped up fantastically again for us this year and looking like we are set up to have a great ‘spiel again.”

The deadline to enter is coming up on Friday, January 2nd. Visit the Innisfail Farmers & Farmerettes Bonspiel Facebook page for more details.
