Town of Innisfail unofficial results from municipal election: Mayor Barclay re-elected

Three incumbents including the Mayor will unofficially be back on Innisfail council.

Jean Barclay is the Mayor-elect. Barclay (1,381 votes) is unofficially re-elected for another term after receiving over 750 more votes than her challenger Sarah Verburg (630).

10 candidates were running for the six councillor spots. Jason Heistad (1,299) and Janice Wing (1,238) are re-elected while Shawn Russell (1,117), Donnie Hill (1,039), Lyle McKellar (1,003), and Chris Strong (982) will join council.

Angela Teertstra (842) was the closest of the four other candidates but still missed out by 140 votes. Sara Peppinck (757), Shane Johnson (681), and Curtis Hilgardner (477) rounded out the field.

According to Town of Innisfail officials, the results will be official later this week once the final counts have been submitted to Elections Alberta.
