Two candidates running for Mayor, more than a dozen for Town of Olds council

Two candidates got their names in for the race for Mayor in the Town of Olds prior to Monday’s deadline for nominations.
 
Current councillor Dan Daley will be running for Mayor and so too will former Mayor Michael Muzychka.
 
There are a total of 15 candidates who have thrown their hat into the ring for a council seat in Olds. The list includes incumbents Wanda Blatz, James Cummings, and Darren Wilson along with Curtis Cook, Chad Taylor, Mary Anne Overwater, Darcy Dobush, Benjamin (Ben) Chrusch, Michael Clark, Debra Bennett, Pat Bekker, Chris Parkhouse, Evelyn Smith, Patrick Dardis, and Janey Olson.
 
Three current elected officials for the Town of Olds are not running for re-election – they are Mayor Judy Dahl along with councillors Harvey Walsh and Heather Ryan.
 
**(update as of 1pm on Tuesday, September 23rd)** The list of nominations is now official as the 24-hour period allowing time for candidate withdrawals has elapsed.
 
This fall’s Municipal Election will be held on Monday, October 20th and the Olds & District Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a Candidates Forum for the Town of Olds on October 7th from 6:30-9pm on Tuesday, October 7th at the Fine-Arts & Multi-media Centre on the Olds College campus.
