Something is brewing: Inaugural “Coffee with a Cop” event hosted by Olds RCMP

The first edition of “Coffee with a Cop” provided a chance for community members to meet informally with officers from the Olds RCMP Detachment.

It took place this morning at the McDonald’s in Olds with the public sipping on beverages from the McCafe menu and sitting down with local police.

Constable Mitch Price with the Olds RCMP think that this type of public engagement is huge. Price is hopeful that as time goes by and word of mouth carries it throughout the community that they will get larger and larger turnouts. He says “it is just an opportunity for us to sit down and be people. Have normal conversations with the community. Working in a small community like Olds I think that is huge. If people that we work for and we serve in Town know us personally and know us outside of the uniform, I think it makes those relationships and those connections much stronger.”

“Coffee with a Cop” will take place on the last Thursday of every month. Community members can also follow the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Alberta – Olds RCMP Detachment Facebook page.
