Alberta RCMP responded to a tragic incident on the province’s highways over the weekend.
A serious motor vehicle collision occurred on Highway 9 about three kilometers south of Irricana on Saturday, July 5th just before 5:45 p.m.
RCMP members from both Airdrie and Beiseker attended and say “initial reports indicate a Dodge truck swerved into oncoming traffic and struck the Ford Mustang.” The investigation into the cause of the collision is ongoing.
Mounties point out that the driver and sole occupant of the Mustang was deceased upon their arrival. He has been identified as a 51-year-old man from Strathmore.
According to RCMP, the driver of the Dodge 3500 truck was a 16-year-old female. She and “her three teenage passengers received non-life-threatening injuries.”
