New extended parade route for Canada Day parade in Olds

Activities, entertainment, food, an even bigger parade, and more are all part of the plans for Canada Day celebrations in the Town of Olds.

The fireworks at Rotary Athletic Park are set for 11 p.m. on Monday, June 30th.

Trina Radcliff, Community Facilitator with the Town of Olds, notes that they will be closing the Canada Day parade route at 9:30 a.m. sharp on Tuesday, July 1st. She says “so anywhere you go, you want to go before 9:30 a.m. and we just want to remind everyone to keep your children back as the parade comes through. We want to make sure it is safe for everyone. Again, that is why we extended the route. We now have all across in front of the ball diamonds, in front of ORE, all the way down to the four-way stop, but make sure you do all of your driving, all of your parking before 9:30 a.m. on July 1st.”

Radcliff explains how many entries they have for the Canada Day parade this year. She says “we have about 40 entries in the parade which usually makes it the equivalent to about 60-70 vehicles, depending on how many each of them bring. So again, just a nice big parade and a celebration from our community to celebrate Canada Day.”
