Another Successful Radio-Thon Held To Support Mountain View Emergency Shelter Society

Royal LePage Wildrose Real Estate, in conjunction with the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation, hosted its fourth annual Radio-thon on 96.5 CKFM on Wednesday, May 15th.

Merrell Dickie, Owner/Broker along with his wife Clare of Royal LePage Wildrose Real Estate, says prior to starting the Radio-thon, they had a suitcase party fundraiser and it has all been done to support the Mountain View Emergency Shelter Society (MVESS).

According to Dickie they targeted a fundraising goal of about to $100,000 dollars for 2024. As of 6pm on Wednesday – and without all of the auction items finalized – they had gone over $90,000 dollars, so he is really happy.

A groundbreaking ceremony for Kirsten’s Place – the first physical emergency shelter building in Olds – was held on May 1st. He says “I understand they are aiming to have it finished in the fall. Late October or early November is what I understand. They’ve got the money for the building and everything that is earned is going to fencing and security. So, you know, big things that are needed for this kind of project.”

Dickie says for the five years of fundraising they are up to a grand total of around $350,000 dollars that they have collected for the Mountain View Emergency Shelter Society.

He thanks his wife, along with 96.5 CKFM, plus the small committee that worked really, really hard to put this Radio-Thon fundraiser on again this year.
