Witnesses to incident at Ghost Lake asked to contact Cochrane RCMP

One man suffered injuries in a recent collision between a jet ski and a paddle board.

Cochrane RCMP responded just after 7pm on Saturday, September 7th at Ghost Lake.

According to police, the adult male on the paddle board was injured but a female youth – who was also on the paddle board – was not.

After initially fleeing the scene, the driver of the jet ski was later identified by independent witnesses.

A 31-year-old male resident of Cochrane, Bradley Edward Baxandall, was arrested and charged with refusing to comply with alcohol demand, accident resulting in bodily harm.

He also faces charges of failing to stop after the accident resulting in bodily harm, dangerous operation of a vessel causing bodily harm, common nuisance causing injury.

Baxandall was released following a judicial interim release hearing and has a court date set for September 24th in Cochrane.

Anyone who may have witnesses or recorded the incident is asked to contact Constable Bouthillier at the Cochrane RCMP Detachment at 403-851-8000 or CRIMESTOPPERS.
