Innisfail’s Ryan Shuckburgh rising up steer wrestling leaderboard

This is the final week of the regular season for Canadian Pro Rodeo Association cowboys and cowgirls.

Much like the weather, the race to the finish line is heating up in steer wrestling.

At the top of the money list is four-time Canadian champion Scott Guenthner from Provost, but Innisfail’s Ryan Shuckburgh was a big time mover and shaker last weekend. Shuckburgh – who is in second place – has climbed to within $3,000 of first place. He won in Lethbridge and tied for first in Okotoks to pocket nearly $5,200 from those two tour stops.

Red Deer County’s Landon Beardsworth is trying to stay in the top 12 on the steer wrestling money list which would earn him a trip to the Canadian Finals Rodeo in Edmonton in October. Beardsworth is currently in 11th place.

The three final tour stops of the 2025 season are taking place this week in British Columbia in Armstrong, Merritt, and Langley.

Meanwhile, prize money won at the Oldstoberfest Pro Rodeo in Olds on September 12th and 13th will count towards the 2026 season. Tickets and more details can be found online at oldstoberfest.com.
