Fatal helicopter crash in Lacombe County claims life of passenger from Benalto

The Transportation Safety Board is investigating following a fatal helicopter crash in Lacombe County.

Sylvan Lake RCMP were called to site of the incident near a private landing strip in the area of Range Road 40. It happened shortly after 12:20pm on Sunday, July 6th.

Police say “emergency responders attempted to assist a female passenger, however, she was declared deceased.” She has been identified as a 54-year-old resident of Benalto.

Mounties add, the 63-year-old pilot from Lacombe County was taken to hospital by STARS Air Ambulance in “life-threatening condition.”

Alberta RCMP pass along their condolences to the friends and family of the deceased.
