A petting zoo by Butterfield Acres will be included in this week’s Discover Didsbury event.
Shannon Wilcox, Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) Coordinator with the Town of Didsbury, says families were requesting information in regards to summer programming and all ages wanted to know what clubs, groups, etc were coming up in the fall before fall begins. She says “so this will actually replace our Didsbury Showcase. So wanted to give it a new title, a little bit of a facelift and allow families to get the information that they were seeking prior to the fall months. School of course, things get so busy once you are into September. So this allows families to access that information well in advance and plan their fall programming.”
She says they have over 40 local groups or organizations registered to be there. Wilcox says “well I’m very excited the Didsbury Library will be joining us to share all of their fall programming. We have Imagine Gymnastics, we have everyone and anyone from Didsbury stamp club, to the Olds Amateur Football group, as well as Mountain View Seniors’ Housing. We have art studios attending. So regardless of age or interest, there is absolutely something for everybody.”
Wednesday’s (June 18th) Discover Didsbury event runs from 5pm until 7 at the Didsbury curling rink and Wilcox is excited to add that there is also a free swim for the public from 7 until 8pm at the aquatic centre in the Didsbury Memorial Complex. A touch the trucks exhibit is being put on by the Town of Didsbury Public Works and she notes the Didsbury Lions Club will be providing an affordable BBQ where you can get a hot dog, chips, and a drink for just $5 bucks.
More details can be found on the Town of Didsbury’s website or the Didsbury FCSS Facebook page.
