Constable Tim Dulmage from the Olds RCMP has received the Corporal Cummings Gold Award for the third time in six years.
The award, which was named for RCMP Corporal Graeme Cumming who was killed while on duty by an impaired driver in Lethbridge in 1998, is given every year to officers with a high level of impaired driving investigations, by Mothers Against Drunk Driving Canada.
Olds RCMP Acting Detachment Commander Sergeant Jamie Day says in just his first few weeks in Olds, he is already impressed with the quality of local policing.
“To come into Olds and see that on my desk, and to present that to one of our officers at the Olds detachment, it was incredible to see and such an honour for me to highlight him on his work and recognize the importance of the work he’s doing on a daily basis,” he says.
The award has two tiers, with the silver award going to members who complete between 15 and 24 impaired driving investigations within a year, and the gold going to officers who complete more than 25 investigations. Sergeant Day says Dulmage receiving the award for another year speaks to his dedication to keeping the Hay City’s roads safe for all.
“For someone to win his third gold award in the last six years- that’s somebody who’s really focused on removing impaired drivers from Alberta highways and roadways,” he says. “Having that achievement of a high level says a lot about him, his commitment, dedication, the quality of service that he’s providing to the community of Olds and the surrounding areas, just amazing work from that member.”
Dulmage has been with the Olds RCMP since 2017, and completed 29 impaired driving investigations last year.
