Mounties make one arrest in connection with 7-11 robbery in Blackfalds

A 19-year-old man from Red Deer has been arrested and charged in connection with a robbery in Blackfalds.

Mounties responded to a report of a recent robbery with a firearm at the 7-11 in Blackfalds on November 11th just after 12:30am.

According to police, two unidentified individuals in masks “entered the store, threatened the staff, and discharged a shotgun into the ceiling. The suspects left after taking cash from the till.”

Various General Investigation Section (GIS) units – Blackfalds, Innisfail, and Sylvan Lake – along with general duty members collaborated this week to execute a search warrant at a residence in Red Deer.

It resulted in the seizure of items related to the robbery including masks, a shotgun, and a vehicle. The Red Deer resident (Jackson Mackenzie Cann) faces charges including robbery with a firearm and is slated to appear in court on Friday (December 20th).

RCMP add, despite this arrest, the investigation continues into identifying the second suspect. Contact the Blackfalds RCMP Detachment or CRIMESTOPPERS if you have any information about this crime or those responsible.
