Serious motor vehicle collision in Rocky View County claims two lives

RCMP say the investigation is continuing into a fatal two-vehicle collision on Sunday morning.

Mounties were called to the scene just after 10:30am and it happened at the intersection of Highway 9 and Highway 564 in Rocky View County. A Ford Escape and a GMC truck pulling a trailer were involved.

Police say there were four occupants in the Ford Escape and two women in it are deceased with one passing away at the scene and the other in hospital. The women were a 63-year-old and a 33-year-old both from Calgary. An adult male and a child were taken to hospital in Calgary in critical condition.

The only occupant of the pickup truck was transported to hospital in serious condition.

Airdrie Rural RCMP and Strathmore RCMP are extending their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and the families involved.
