Happy campers: Rotary Dragon’s Den pitch pays off for FCSS/Olds summer camps

Last week’s Rotary Dragon’s Den event included a successful pitch from FCSS for Town of Olds.

Community Facilitator Trina Radcliffe notes they are hoping to help make some local students into happy campers this summer. Radcliffe says “so what we pitched for was to be able to send more youth to camp. We’ve really seen a need in our community and a barrier of finances for children to be able to go to summer camps. So we want to help remove that barrier by being able to send more youth to summer camps. So our pitch was, our hope was to send 10 to 12 campers to our summer camps this summer.”

Radcliffe adds, they received their full ask which was for $2,500 and they will be sending all the information out to local schools so that teachers can nominate students up until the end of June for the summer camps. She says “I think it is a very interesting and unique way that the Rotary Club (of Olds) is putting out their grant funding for organizations within the community. I know we had a lot of fun putting together a little script and some costumes and, you know, really trying to make it fun and interesting and informative for not only the panel but the other groups there as well. Everyone did a fantastic job presenting.”

The camps will start July 6th and run for eight straight weeks until August 28th. If you are interested, sign up is available online at olds.ca/summercamps.
